BMW X5 xDRIVE 40e plug-in hybrid sports utility Concept Car

The BMW X5 xDRIVE 40e is the latest of a series of plug-in hybrid concept vehicles shown by BMW.  It’s thought this vehicle will eventually result in a BMW i-brand SUV (or, as BMW describes this one, a Sports Activity Vehicle).

The latest iteration (as of March 2015) had a 13 mile electric-only range, and a gas engine electric motor combo that puts out 308 horsepower, 332 ft-lb of torque, and a 0-60 miles/hr time of about 6 seconds.

The production version of the 2016 model is due in American showrooms in Fall 2015.
